Deciding to Replace Air Conditioning / HVAC System

Why Purchase a High Efficiency Air Conditioning and Heating System instead of a Low SEER System?

How old is your HVAC system? Close to 10 years …maybe over 20 years. Often you can hear the air conditioning system making odd noises trying to deliver the cooling or heating you require for your home comfort.  There are cold spots or hot spots in your home and your utility bills are much higher than they were the previous year.

Technicians have been out repeatedly to repair your air conditioning system and make small adjustments. You know your system is not going to last much longer and you need to make a decision – soon.  Try the online Energy Star Yardstick survey to learn more.  If your score is under five you are probably paying too much on your energy bills. It maybe be time to research new HVAC equipment and take action.

You may be asking yourself “do I really need to purchase a high efficiency system air conditioning and heating system” or “my friend says I only need 13 SEER” or “another company said my air conditioner is still working” and I think you guys are just trying to sell me something I don’t need.  Have you heard or thought anything like this?

Anderson Service and Modern Service are about improving your home comfort level while also creating a return on your investment. Your friend is correct, you only have to buy 13 SEER HVAC system, which we do offer, and it seems initially cheaper than the higher (let’s say 18 SEER) system that we also quoted you; however, 13 SEER  is not an investment, it will not make you home more comfortable, it will not save you money, it will not pay you back over  time, and it will not increase the value of your house.  It is not recommended by the government or the utility companies and does not qualify for any rebates.  It is not quieter, and in the end it will cost you more money to purchase and own a lower efficiency system.

Your current system may still be working, but it is incredibly inefficient and you have the right to and deserve to be informed regarding your options; putting off buying a new air conditioner will only cost you more money down the road and the monthly energy drain on your wallet will continue.

Manufacturers and many utility companies have created many incentives to help homeowners lower their energy bills. 13 SEER HVAC systems do not qualify for these incentives.  Once you factor in the rebates, the higher efficiency HVAC, while more expensive than lower SEER equipment, will give you more comfort and and an investment that creates positive cash flow for years to come through lower utility bills.

Other companies will try to tell you that efficiency does not matter. They may not even be certified by FP&L to offer you their rebate. Other companies do not mind you leaving money on the table and allowing you to miss out on the savings and comfort you deserve, they just want to make a sell today and be done with it. Our goal is to build a lifetime working relationship with our customers. FP&L does not even list 13 SEER HVAC equipment on their rebate chart that increases with SEER rating.

It’s up to you to make the best investment. We are not trying to make you choose a more expensive air conditioning unit. We want our customers to be informed and make the best decision possible. Look for proper documentation from an independent testing company such as the Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute – www.ahridirectory.org  to insure that you get the rebates you deserve.

In case you are still wondering what to do; Anderson and Modern also Guarantees, in writing, you will be 100% satisfied or your money back!!!

Think in terms of lowest price instead of lowest cost. What’s the difference? Price is what you pay for a system today, while cost is what the system will cost you to own AND operate over the next 10-12 years or longer. We don’t always offer the lowest price, but we are able to provide the lowest cost solution.
